CULTURAL DIVERSITY

Cultural Diversity

What is culture?

As community builders, understanding culture is our business. Whether you live in Kuala Lumpur, Paris, New York or United States, you are working with and establishing relationships with people who all have cultures.
"Culture" refers to a group or community which shares common experiences that shape the way its members understand the world. It includes groups that we are born into, such as race, national origin, gender, class, or religion. It can also include a group we join or become part of. For example, it is possible to acquire a new culture by moving to a new country or region, by a change in our economic status, or by becoming disabled. When we think of culture this broadly we realize we all belong to many cultures at once.

If there was any country that has a diversity of cultures to exhibit to the world, Malaysia would be an outstanding candidate. Simply look around and you will see Malaysia in all its colours. Diversity enriches our lives. Much as the biological diversity of an ecosystem increases its stability and productivity, cultural diversity brings together the resources and talents of many people for the benefit of a nation.

Sadly, the differences among us form the bases of fear, bigotry and violence. Yet, consider how dull life would be if we all looked alike, thought alike and acted alike. By learning to recognise our similarities and appreciate our differences, we can overcome prejudice and work towards a more peaceful and productive nation.
In Malaysia, people may fear diversity because change makes them uncomfortable. Others feel threatened because they perceive increased participation by underrepresented groups in the workplace and the political process as a challenge to their power.
A key way of addressing intolerance is through a quality education system. Education universalises the human spirit. A person cannot be universalised if he exists only in one world, that is, the world of his ethnic group, his neighbourhood, his religion or his family. The word "university" is related to this idea. Our lives are improved when we understand and appreciate many worlds.

It has been said that if you gain a new language, you gain a new world. When our spirit is universalised, we can cross boundaries and feel comfortable in other worlds. We can teach and learn from others to acquire respect for the human condition.
Therefore, parents have a critical role in shaping children's views about diversity. If we remain silent, they will take their cue from other sources. You can help children develop their own attitudes towards cultural diversity by giving them accurate information about their heritage and other cultures and by helping them to understand that bigotry and intolerance are hurtful.
Building and maintaining a healthy self-identity is a life-long process and includes learning to get along with people different from ourselves.

Children need to be taught to respect others and not to pre-judge them. Help them see that there is much to learn from people who are different from ourselves, including those who live far away or lived long ago. We must teach them to behave respectfully towards other people and make it clear that it is wrong to tease or reject a person because of his appearance or heritage.

Bias based on gender, race, disability or social class creates obstacles to children's development. Children can learn at an early age to resist bias and to value the differences between people as much as the similarities.Teach them how to challenge biases and let them know that unjust things can be changed, and that they can help change them.
We are the role models in our children's life.So let us start by treating others with respect, avoid using stereotypes, making it clear that prejudice is wrong, not allowing bigoted comments by others, even friends or family members, to go unchallenged. If we endow our children with self-esteem and respect for others, we help them grow into adults who will celebrate diversity and make Malaysia heaven on earth.

FAIRYTALE

TWO FAIRYTALE ‘S STORY THAT I LOVE

I have my own favourite fairytale’s story that I love when I was child. My mother always bought for
me a fairytale  story books  when I was 5 years old.Two of my favourite fairytale’s  story are The Little “Mermaid  and Cinderella. Here the plots that I put in this blog to show you the real story about the Little Mermaid and Cinderella.

The Little Mermaid lives in an underwater kingdom with her father the sea king; her grandmother; and her six elder sisters, each born one year apart. When a mermaid turns 15, she is allowed to swim to the surface to watch the world above, and as the sisters become old enough, one of them visits the surface every year. As each of them returns, the Little Mermaid listens longingly to their various descriptions of the surface and of human beings. When the Little Mermaid's turn comes, she ventures to the surface, sees a ship with a handsome prince, and falls in love with him from a distance. A great storm hits, and the Little Mermaid saves the prince from a near-drowning. She delivers him unconscious to the shore near a temple. Here she waits until a young girl from the temple finds him. The prince never sees the Little Mermaid.
The Little Mermaid asks her grandmother whether humans can live forever if they do not drown. The grandmother explains that humans have a much shorter lifespan than merfolk's 300 years, but that when mermaids die they turn to sea foam and cease to exist, while humans have an eternal soul that lives on in Heaven. The Little Mermaid, longing for the prince and an eternal soul, eventually visits the Sea Witch, who sells her a potion that gives her legs, in exchange for her tongue (as the Little Mermaid has the most intoxicating voice in the world). The Sea Witch warns, however, that once she becomes a human, she will never be able to return to the sea. Drinking the potion will make her feel as if a sword is being passed through her, yet when she recovers she will have two beautiful legs, and will be able to dance like no human has ever danced before. However, it will constantly feel like she is walking on sharp swords, and her feet will bleed most terribly. In addition, she will only get a soul if the prince loves her and marries her, for then a part of his soul will flow into her. Otherwise, at dawn on the first day after he marries another woman, the Little Mermaid will die brokenhearted and disintegrate into sea foam.
The Little Mermaid drinks the potion and meets the prince, who is attracted to her beauty and grace even though she is mute. Most of all he likes to see her dance, and she dances for him despite her excruciating pain. When the prince's father orders his son to marry the neighboring king's daughter, the prince tells the Little Mermaid he will not, because he does not love the princess. He goes on to say he can only love the young woman from the temple, who he believes rescued him, but adds that the Little Mermaid is beginning to take the temple girl's place in his heart. It turns out that the princess is the temple girl, who had been sent to the temple to be educated. The prince loves her and the wedding is announced.
The prince and princess marry, and the Little Mermaid's heart breaks. She thinks of all that she has given up and of all the pain she has suffered. She despairs, thinking of the death that awaits her, but before dawn, her sisters bring her a knife that the Sea Witch has given them in exchange for their long hair. If the Little Mermaid slays the prince with the knife and lets his blood drip on her feet, she will become a mermaid again, all her suffering will end and she will live out her full life.
The Little Mermaid cannot bring herself to kill the sleeping prince lying with his bride and, as dawn breaks, throws herself into the sea. Her body dissolves into foam, but instead of ceasing to exist, she feels the warmth of the sun; she has turned into a spirit, a daughter of the air. The other daughters
of the air tell her she has become like them because she strove with all her heart to gain an eternal soul. She will earn her own soul by doing good deeds, and she will eventually rise up into the kingdom of God.

That was the story about The little mermaid and here this is the story about Cinderella.

Once upon a time, there lived an unhappy young girl. Unhappy she was, for her mother was dead, her father had married another woman, a widow with two daughters, and her stepmother didn’t like her one little bit. All the nice things, kind thoughts and loving touches were for her own daughters. And not just the kind thoughts and love, but also dresses, shoes, shawls, delicious food, comfy beds, as well as every home comfort. All this was laid on for her daughters. But, for the poor unhappy girl, there was nothing at all. No dresses, only her stepsisters’ hand-me-downs. No lovely dishes, nothing but scraps. No nice rests and comfort. For she had to work hard all day, and only when evening came was she allowed to sit for a while by the fire, near the cinders. That is how she got her nickname, for everybody called her Cinderella. Cinderella used to spend long hours all alone talking to the cat. The cat said,“Meow”, which really meant, “Cheer up! You have something neither of your stepsisters have and that is beauty.”
It was quite true. Cinderella, even dressed in rags with a dusty grey face from the cinders, was a lovely girl. While her stepsisters, no matter how splendid and elegant their clothes, were still clumsy, lumpy and ugly, and they always would be.One day, beautiful new dresses arrived at the house. A ball was to be held at Court and the stepsisters were getting ready to go to it. Cinderella, didn’t even dare ask, “What about me?” for she knew very well what the answer to what would be.“You? My dear girl, you’re staying at home to wash the dishes, scrub the floors and turn down the beds for your stepsisters. They will come home tired and very sleepy.” Cinderella sighed at the cat.“Oh dear, I’m so unhappy!” and the cat murmured “Meow”.
Suddenly something amazing happened. In the kitchen, where Cinderella was sitting all by herself, there was a burst of light and a fairy appeared.“Don’t be alarmed, Cinderella,” said the fairy. “The wind blew me your sighs. I know you would love to go to the ball. And so you shall!”“How can I, dressed in rags?” Cinderella replied. “The servants will turn me away!” The fairy smiled. With a flick of her magic wand, Cinderella found herself wearing the most beautiful dress, the loveliest ever seen in the realm.“Now that we have settled the matter of the dress,” said the fairy, “we’ll need to get you a coach. A real lady would never go to a ball on foot!”“Quick! Get me a pumpkin!” she ordered.“Oh of course,” said Cinderella, rushing away. Then the fairy turned to the cat.“You, bring me seven mice!”“Seven mice!” said the cat. “I didn’t know fairies ate mice too!”“They’re not for eating, silly! Do as you are told, and remember they must be alive!”Cinderella soon returned with a fine pumpkin and the cat with seven mice he had caught in the cellar.“Good!” exclaimed the fairy.

With a flick of her magic wand  wonder of wonders! The pumpkin turned into a sparkling coach and the mice became six white horses, while the seventh mouse turned into a coachman, in a smart uniform and carrying a whip. Cinderella could hardly believe her eyes.“I shall present you at Court. You will soon see that the Prince, in whose honour the ball is being held, will be enchanted by your loveliness. But remember! You must leave the ball at midnight and come home. For that is when the spell ends. Your coach will turn back into a pumpkin, the horses will become mice again and the coachman will turn back into a mouse, and you will be dressed again in rags and wearing clogs instead of these dainty little slippers! Do you understand?”Cinderella smiled and said, “Yes, I understand!”

When Cinderella entered the ballroom at the palace, a hush fell. Everyone stopped in mid-sentence to admire her elegance, her beauty and grace.“Who can that be?” people asked each other. The two stepsisters also wondered who the newcomer was, for never in a month of Sundays, would they ever have guessed that the beautiful girl was really poor Cinderella who talked to the cat! When the prince set eyes on Cinderella, he was struck by her beauty. Walking over to her, he bowed deeply and asked her to dance. And to the great disappointment of all the young ladies, he danced with Cinderella all evening.“Who are you, fair maiden?” the Prince kept asking her.But Cinderella only replied: “What does it matter who I am! You will never see me again anyway.”“Oh, but I shall, I’m quite certain!” he replied.Cinderella had a wonderful time at the ball, but, all of a sudden, she heard the sound of a clock, the first stroke of midnight! She remembered what the fairy had said, and without a word of goobye she slipped from the Prince’s arms and ran down the steps. As she ran she lost one of her slippers, but not for a moment did she dream of stopping to pick it up! If the last stroke of midnight were to sound… oh, what a disaster that would be! Out she fled and vanished into the night.

The Prince, who was now madly in love with her, picked up her slipper and said to his ministers, “Go and search everywhere for the girl whose foot this slipper fits. I will never be content until I find her!” So the ministers tried the slipper on the foot of all the girls… and on Cinderella’s foot as well… Surprise! The slipper fit her perfectly.“That awful untidy girl simply cannot have been at the ball,” snapped the stepmother. “Tell the Prince he ought to marry one of my two daughters! Can’t you see how ugly Cinderella is! Can’t you see?”Suddenly she broke off, for the fairy had appeared.“That’s enough!” she exclaimed, raising her magic wand. In a flash, Cinderella appeared in a splendid dress, shining with youth and beauty. Her stepmother and stepsisters gaped at her in amazement, and the ministers said,“Come with us, fair maiden! The Prince awaits to present you with his engagement ring!” So Cinderella joyfully went with them, and lived happily ever after with her Prince. That’s all the stories  about The Little Mermaid and Cinderella.I hope you will be enjoyed to read those stories.

Our next task is about analyze movie which have similarities. I have choose 2 movie which are CICAKMAN and SPIDERMAN that I have find similarities in terms of the plot and comparison between character, setting, and moral value. HERE the picture that I find from the internet take a look GUYS...
The picture was copyright by KRU studio

Both movie are action movie. Both movie have same mission which are determined to save people. Firstly, the hero as a normal human with no power. The hero get his power from people mistakes. However, he finds that his powers are more of a threat to his life, than a gift, and embarks on a mission to bring down Prof Klon and the Ginger Boys before his time runs out.

In the SPIDERMAN movie, the synopsis...

As a child, Peter Parker discovers his father Richard's study has been ransacked. His father gathers concealed documents before Peter's parents take him to stay with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. His parents leave, but are later killed in a plane crash.
As a teenager, Peter is a student at Midtown Science High School, where he is bullied by Flash Thompson, and is romantically interested in the beautiful Gwen Stacy, the daughter of police captain George Stacy. At home, Peter discovers his father's documents, and learns he had been working with scientist Dr. Curt Connors at Oscorp to combine human and animal DNA to cure illnesses. Peter sneaks into Oscorp to meet Connors, who is pressured by his superior Dr. Ratha to complete his serum, and cure the terminally ill head of Oscorp Norman Osborn. Connors wants the cure himself to restore his missing arm. Meanwhile, Peter breaks into a lab where a "bio-cable"—a high strength strand of webbing—is created by genetically modified spiders, one of which bites him. During a subway ride home, a fight reveals that he has developed superhuman speed, strength, the ability to stick to surfaces, and a heightened sense of danger.

Peter finds an algorithm in his father's documents and gives it to Connors−the missing key to his serum. In school, Peter damages school property during a confrontation with Flash and Ben is forced to work late so that he can pick up Peter. Ben tells Peter to escort May home that night. Peter ignores Ben in favor of helping Connors test their serum on a three-legged mouse. After he returns home, Peter argues with Ben about not picking up May. Ben then recounts Richard's philosophy of responsibility to Peter, who only leaves in anger after pointing out the hypocrisy. At a grocery store, the clerk rudely refuses to let Peter buy a drink, and when a thief steals money from the register, Peter lets the thief escape. Ben, searching the streets for Peter, confronts the thief, but is shot and killed. Peter responds to the gunshot and finds Ben's body. After seeing a police sketch of the suspect, Peter realizes it was the thief he let go.

Peter hunts the killer, taking out other criminals as a result and attracting police attention for his vigilante actions. During one confrontation he falls into an abandoned gym, where a luchador-wrestling poster inspires him to create a mask to hide his identity. He creates a costume for himself with a spandex suit, and builds wrist-mounted mechanical devices that shoot biocable strands. Peter, after going to Gwen's house for a dinner "date" with her family, later reveals he is the vigilante to Gwen and they kiss.

Seeing that the test mouse has regrown its missing limb using lizard DNA, Ratha demands human trials begin immediately. Connors refuses to risk innocent lives and is fired. Desperate, Connors tests the serum on himself and his missing arm regenerates. He learns that Ratha is going to test the serum on human subjects and goes to stop him, but his body begins to mutate. By the time he finds Ratha on the Williamsburg Bridge Connors has transformed into a large Lizard-like creature, tossing cars, including Ratha's, over the side of the bridge. Peter, now calling himself Spider-Man, manages to save Ratha and other civilians. Connors retreats into the sewer and reverts to human form.

Peter later meets Connors in his office and suspects he is the Lizard, and later unsuccessfully confronts Connors' Lizard form in the sewers, leaving behind his camera. Connors learns Peter's identity via the name on the camera and pursues him to Midtown Science High School where they fight. In response, the police start a manhunt for both Spider-Man and Lizard. Connors heads to Oscorp, intending to disperse his serum across the city and make everyone into lizards, while Gwen develops an antidote in Oscorp's lab. The police corner Spider-Man and Captain Stacy discovers that he is Peter, but lets him escape to go save Gwen. With the help of the father of a boy he rescued earlier, Spider-Man reaches Oscorp in time.

Spider-Man manages to replace Connors' serum with the antidote, reverting Connors to human form, but not before Connors mortally wounds Captain Stacy. Spider-Man nearly falls to his death, but Connors saves him. Before his death, Captain Stacy makes Peter promise to stay away from Gwen for her safety. He initially keeps the promise, but later admits to Gwen that failed promises are the best kind; she responds to this with a smile.

In a post-credits scene, Connors, in a dark prison cell, is confronted by a man in the shadows who asks if Connors told Peter the truth about his father. Connors replies, "No", and demands Peter be left alone before the man disappears.

Paranormal World

The paranormal world is full of mystery, facts, myths, but the question is do you think any of it exists? There so many questioning about the paranormal world. It is nothing like ours, for ours is made of people with lives and families and the paranormal one is made up of spirits and ghosts and scary things that have no one but themselves. People, trapped between life, and death, are forced to walk the earth, invisible to everyone else. There are shows, movies, and even books on this topic.

I am sure many of us loves ghost stories. Most afraid as they might get nightmares while there are those who loves listening to the stories, especially if they are true accounts while there are those who chases after horror movies, the scarier the better. These days, the silver screen is always filled with horror movies especially those from Japan, Korea and Indonesia.

There are many kinds of beliefs in this world about the types of ghosts. One of the more popular types of ghosts in our local culture are the Malay ghosts. Of course, there are also the Chinese ghosts, English ghosts and even Indian ghosts depending on religion, race and beliefs. For example, a vampire is an English ghost version whereas Malays simply knows them as “pontianak” and Chinese as “Kiong Xi”.

Malays believe that ghosts are usually only active at night especially during the full moon where it is belief to be the most powerful time for the underworld. According to Islamic teachings, there is no such thing as Ghosts. Muslims believe that 'Ghosts' are in fact jinns while in Buddhism, there are a number of planes of existence a person into which a person can be reborn, one of which is the realm of hungry ghosts. There are some of common Malaysian ghosts and spirits such as pocong, pontianak, toyol, pelesit, hantu air, kum kum, hantu raya, bunian, orang minyak, hantu penanggal and hantu jepun.

Pontianak is a vampire seen as female, long hair, ugly face and wearing white dress seeking for revenge. It is also said as the spirit of woman died of childbirth. They usually comes out after the sun sets searching for men or pregnant women to suck blood. Ghostly children know as toyol  used by the owner to steal other people's money. They are green in color, have red eyes and alsobald head. Because the toyol is kept by people to do bidding, they have to feed it with blood everyday. The ghost of the Japanese soldier or Hantu Jepun refers to wandering spirits of dead Japan military personnel, who was once stationed in Malaysia, and around the Southeast Asian region during World War 2. These spirits are often seen wandering in full uniform, bearing arms or swords, or walking around headless or carrying its head. Take the Malay College Kuala Kangsar in Perak as an example. Lastly the famous one is Orang Minyak which is known as “oily man”. They are usually seen all covered in black oil and is said to love rape virgins.

Personally I don’t believed before in ghosts and the other things that exist in the paranormal world until I  had a scary experience with them when I was teenager. One night when I was 13 years old, I’m ninety nine percent sure I saw a ghost or some form that night. I have a bad memory to begin with so for me to remember this night is very significant. I was lying down in my little crib, when suddenly for some reason I woke up in the middle of the night. I turned my head to look at the window and there it was, a man in all white. He come near me and I heard the strange sound. It exactly shaped like a person, but it was definitely a ghost. I tried to pray and scream, but nothing came out. I felt so scared. Since that day, I believed the paranormal world is exist.

This was a very scary experience for me. Although it happened to long ago I can remember it just as good as if it were happening right now. Believe it or not, but that is my true story. It could or couldn’t have been a dream, but I doubt it because it was so real. People are scared of the unknown and unexpected and that is what this is all about. You never know where they are, what they can or will do, and who they used to be or never were. But the question is, do you believe now?

Baby Dumping

BABY DUMPING

Nowadays, baby dumping become crisis and has chronic increase as many cases are occuring in Malaysian society. As much as we want to deny it, many young people expecially high school student having sex before marriage. A study done by Universiti Putra Malaysia revealed that more than 300 Malay teens aged between 13 and 25 admitted to having had sex, with 85% stating that they did not regret their actions and found sex very enjoyable. They are immature to understand the effect of free sex could have on their lives. So there is no doubt that the problem of baby dumping and absorption will be created because of that.

What is even more sad is that many of them throw away the babies at any places without taking care of it later. In most of the cases, the babies were already dead when they were found by someone else. One of the cause is they are lack of sex education and religious knowledge. Parents should inject the knowledge of sex and religious into their mind of their children when they were small. So they will know the relationship between different gender. Most of parents feel uncomfortable when their kids ask about sex. They also assume that their children will know everything naturally when they become adult. Parents are always claim that their children are too small to know about sex. This make their children gain less information of sex. When they are teenagers, they fell curious and eager to try new things. They tried to have sex with their partners because they would like to try anything that they never try before at this stage.

Another reason is  teenage pregnancy. It is usually happen in teenagers. That pregnancy might not happen if  they make their studies as priority rather than having relationships with the opposite sex. They are too young to take responsible as early parent. So, they choose to dump their baby because they have no capability to grow their child on their own and of course they have no enough money to support a baby. Family also have a big role to prevent baby dumping. Most of teenagers having family problems or family breaks up. They are mostly affected by this kind of situation if both their mother and father decided to a divorce. Some parents also cannot accept if their daughter get pregnant because of wider culture of shame. Society should stop being quick to criticise and judgmental towards unwed girls. Because of this matter, they lost the place were they can depend on when this is happen. They cannot raise their child alone which lead them to dump their child.

I think this problem will be solved if everyone knows their responsiblity as students, parents and also society. All religions in Malaysia prohibit sex before marriage. As the students or teenagers have to avoid from reading or viewing the pornographic materials. It is also can be the reason in inceasing of unwanted pregnancy. The teenagers have to involve in outdoor activities such as sports, volunteer works in order to avoid from involved in this kind of problem. Another preventation is the parents should be able to spend more time with the children. This is because parents play a high role to educate children to become good in behavior by teaching to stay out of sexual relationship. More over, the parents should keep an eye in every single activity have been involved by children and teach them religious education too when they were small.

School institution need to expose them with sex education. Sex education is not about the free sex. From the process of learning, teacher could educate the young student about his or her body, importance of responsible relationships, the sequences of having unplanned and unprotected sex, what contraceptives do, sexually transmitted disease, HIV/AIDS and how to avoid  sex before marriage. Mass media also is one of the ways to prevent baby from being dumped. People tends to spend more times at home such as watch television, listen to the music and read magazines. So it is nearest medium and the best way to communicate and educate teenagers too. It all about how to protect and prevent themself from being the victim of this matter. Besides that, the suitable sex therapists or phychologist could be presenters of special programme on sex education and set the stage for more personal discussions in homes and school.

As conclusion, the problem of baby dumping should be prevent from an early stages. So individual as main role, society and goverment must stand together to prevent this issue. Teenagers especially have to learn to be responsible on what they have done and think maturely on pros and cons of things. Then the religious and educational authorities also must play organising country’s programs and collaborate with parents to nurture the right values in young.  Baby dumping should be eliminated from now on and leave a peaceful and caring society for us.

WORLD POVERTY

Most of us live in comfort and security, but over one-fifth of the world’s population lives in poverty. Around the world poverty appears when people are not able to achieve the standard of living that is usual for their society. Today, standards of living vary greatly among nations; however, the effects of poverty remain constant: hunger, homelessness, lack of education, and resources to fulfill basic human needs.

Poverty is not only having no money. For
those in developing countries it also is not having the materials and resources to fulfill their basic needs. A person can be poor when they don’t have access to employment and basic healthcare, education and essentials like food, clothing and water.

There are many causes and effects of poverty. The most obvious effect of poverty is hunger, however hunger can also be a cause of poverty. This is because hunger deprives those living in absolute poverty of the skill and strength to carry out productive work. Millions of people, including over six million children under the age of five, die each year as a result of hunger. One in seven children born in countries where hunger, and therefore poverty, is most common will die before reaching the age of five. Hunger affects mental and physical growth, causing undernourished smaller and slighter body frames, which in turn earn less in jobs involving physical labour, contributing to the overall poverty of a country and community.

Voicelessness/powerlessness is a cause and effect of poverty because people living in absolute poverty often have no political power and are subjected to exploitation by the state. They lack protection, and report widespread corruption within state education and health care systems. Poor people in many countries speak of being kept waiting endlessly while the rich of the country go to the head of the queue. Situations like these create more problems for those already in absolute poverty, and continue to divide the rich from the poor without providing any help. The problem with a lack of voice and power as a cause of poverty is that it enforces a lack of voice and power as an effect of poverty, creating a continuous cycle that deliberately separates the poor of a country from the rich.

The last major cause and effect of poverty that is covered in this essay is vulnerability. Natural disasters, economic crises, and conflict leave the poor very vulnerable, with nobody to help and a lack of resources to use to help themselves. This idea is best expressed through the story of a poor villager from Benin, in the World Development Report 2000/2001: Attacking Poverty. 'Three years ago was a very bad year. The flood washed away all our crops, and there was a lot of hunger around here, to the point that many people actually died of hunger. They must have been at least a dozen, mostly children and old people. Nobody could help them. Their relatives in the village had no food either; nobody had enough food for his own children, let alone the food for the children of his brother or cousin. And few had a richer relative somewhere else who could help.' This is a perfect example of the vulnerability that is both a cause and effect of poverty. The relatively poor can become absolutely poor through disasters, both economic and natural, and conflict, which causes more vulnerability that affects their ability to escape poverty.

The fate of these people is so sad. They are not interested in having luxury things- jewels, fancy clothes, big houses or expensive cars. All that they want is to have health and not to see how their closest are dying every day because of hunger. They want to have better conditions to live and it is the only thing that can make these people happy. In my opinion we can give them happiness. I realize that it cannot happen for one day, or one week because supplying food and immunizations demand more time but it is possible to happen.

If we stop poverty, we will save many peoples’ lives. Life is so hard and if we don’t help these people, who will do that? Let’s support this cause, because this is the way that we can see smiles on childrens’ faces and we can make some childrens’ dreams come true. Poverty destroys many childrens’ dreams and it is time to say stop. It is time to integrate with each other for one cause because these people need us, it is time to show that we have golden hearts and we really understand how serious the problem with hunger is and it is time to be people and to show that we care not only for ourselves, but also for others in our planet. So let’s help before it is too late and let’s show these people that they are not alone and somebody, somewhere cares about them.

CHILD ABUSE COMMON ABUSED AMONG US

BABY ABUSE BY HER PARENTS MOST HAPPEN

I like to talk more about child abuse because lately more cases about this situation happen in our country. Adults are usually there to help and encourage kids, right? They take care of kids, help them learn how to do things, show them the right way to behave, and encourage the good things that kids do. Most adults treat kids well. I feel so angry because some adults hurt kids rather than help them. Another word for hurting someone is "abuse."

Child abuse can affect all kinds of kids, no matter where they live, how much money their families have, or who they live with. A kid can be abused by a parent, a stepparent, family member, a babysitter, teacher, coach, or a bigger kid.Child abuse can happen anywhere at home, school, childcare, or even in a church or other religious building.

A kid who is being seriously hurt or harmed should tell a trusted adult right away. This can be hard because the abuser (the person who is hurting or harming someone) might have frightened the boy or girl into staying quiet. No matter what the abuser says, abuse is always wrong — and a kid can ask for and get help in a few different ways.

A kid who can't think of a trusted adult to tell, or is worried about upsetting a parent or making someone angry, can call a special telephone number called a helpline, such as 1-800-4-A-CHILD. This hotline is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Your call is private and the people who answer the phone are trained to help. They also have a website where you can get help: www.childhelp.org/pages/help-for-kids.
If you know someone else who you think might be being abused, you can help by telling your parent or another adult.
